Guild Signatures Needed, Pretty Please?

  • Jul. 10th, 2009 at 5:01 PM
My bank alt is in need of more space! If any of you have the time and inclination, I would love some help with signatures. ♥

Where: Maelstrom US (Horde) - Blood Elf starting area
Who: Satima (the only DK on her steed in that area, I'm sure!)
When: starting now until I can no longer keep my eyes open!

Thank you in advance for any help you can give. This might eventually become a leveling guild. I'm a little bit excited!

Superwash Wool

  • Jul. 10th, 2009 at 5:55 PM
I'm planning on knitting the Curlicue Coverlet for my new nephew. I would like to do it in a superwash wool since I am already knitting him a summer blanket out of corn. I haven't worked with a lot of superwash so I am looking for recommendations.

I've used KnitPicks Swish, which is super soft but I find it pills like mad when you machine wash and dry. also, they seem to have a much smaller color selection now.

I've also used Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted, which I love, but at $20 a skein, a blanket is going to get pricey quickly. Also looking at Dream in Color.

I would love to hear how Cascade 220 Superwash is from anyone who's used it. I felt a knitted sample in the store and it was rather rough, I was wondering if it gets much softer after a good wash and dry and if it has the same pilling issue as KnitPicks Swish.

Thanks!!

I would love to start a DIY project for this overpriced sweater, but I'm not sure where to start.

What yarn would be best for this? Where should I start?
Any help would be great, thank you.

How Unique is Your Name?

  • Jul. 10th, 2009 at 2:14 PM
Just food for thought since I haven't been around for a while.

I kind of pride myself that my main user names are usually pretty unique.

Although my name "deraferine" I got from putting two smaller names "dera" and "ferine" from another source it was pretty much only me with that combination. But I searched armory today and I saw another deraferine that wasn't me or my alt O_O if you google deraferine it's pretty much only me so it made me feel a little weird lol.

Anywhoo... how unique is your user/character name? and if it's pretty unique what do you think when you find it and it's not you? and if you haven't seen that yet what will you think if you do?

Priest Gem Check

Any priests wanna check out my gems and tell me I'm they're 100% optimal? I just changed a couple of things up and I'm a little unsure. I now only use purified (8 sp + 8 spirit) vs seer's (8 spirit + 8 intel).

Any comments or suggested would be appreciated.

Given the state of the economy, it's prudent to spend your paycheck wisely. Money weblog Visual Economics has posted a chart detailing how the average U.S. consumer spends his paycheck.

According to statistics culled from the Department of Labor, Americans, on average, spend $8,758 annually on transportation-related expenses, $2,698 on entertainment, and $6,133 on food. (Alcohol expenditures clocked in at $457.) Perhaps not surprisingly, most of our pay—$16,920 of it— goes into our homes.

Browse the full chart at Visual Economics, then let's hear how you compare to these stats. Keeping in mind that averages vary, how representative are they of your habits? Share how you break down your spending in the comments.

When Monsters Love Monsters

  • Jul. 10th, 2009 at 4:55 PM
Some time back, I told sovay that my primary song for "The Emperor's Old Bones"—the ultimate Tim/Ellis OTP ship song, so's to speak—was Single Gun Theory's "Motherland", off their album Flow, River of my Soul. So...here it is, for them that wants it (http://www.box.net/shared/elmn28krc5).

The lyrics—

A long long time ago, I
picked flowers and sang on a hillside far away
I'm still singing
A long long time ago, I
felt love for the first time
it's still with me now
Through the years, through the years
Carried pain and loss with my love
Through the years, through the years
I carried the pain and loss with my love
A long long time ago, you and I swam
in the river of our souls
united
A long long time ago, you and I
kissed goodbye the love of our lives
it's still with me now
Through the years, through the years
Carried pain and loss with my love
Through the years, through the years
I carried the pain and loss with my love
Take a piece of beauty
and multiply it
(like fishes)
take some pain
and overwhelm it till it dies
ride a restless soul to peace and sanctuary
and multiply the love
I multiply my love
Through the years...

Is Tim fooling himself here? Oh, most definitely—particularly so if/when he includes her potential "feelings" in the mix, because I'm almost sure she doesn't really have any. And yet.

  • Jul. 10th, 2009 at 4:48 PM
Due to wanting to redo my UI and not knowing where my stances should be in my UI, I'm interested in seeing other druid UIs for some inspiration.

So all you druids out there, no matter what your spec, show me your UIs pretty please?

Lonely Lock LF Casual Raiding Guild

  • Jul. 10th, 2009 at 3:37 PM
So I started out fresh on a new server, made my first horde, a warlock and I love her. My dk is a thing of the past (too much guild drama it hurts my heart)

Anyways, I leveld this girl to 80 in this really sweet leveling guild, but now that I can raid and want to raid, they cannot. So I pug which is ok, but it seems they fall apart too quickly. I have tried to find a guild on my server but everyone I talk to says I am too low geared and they only do Ulduar which I do want to do, but dang I gotta start somewhere lol. Anyways, my question to you WoW_ladies is does anyone have or are in a guild that would take a heroic/Naxx 10 geared lock? I do pretty decent dps (2k fully raid buffed) and I know my class well. I just want a guild that still does Naxx and one that I could work my way into to get ready for Ulduar and help them with it. (My DK was well into Ulduar and actually has conq peices, Check Oryanna on Kel'Thuzad) Anyways, I am willing to transfer, I am just , looking for a friendly place I could call home and work my way back into raiding. Because I miss it. I do want to do Ulduar but I need gear to start out, so sstill doing Naxx is a plus :)

Thanks in advance ya'll!

Windows only: Microsoft Outlook add-on TwInbox lets you update, reply, search, and archive your Twitter messages right from your Outlook inbox.

Once you've installed the add-on into Outlook, you'll need to take a trip to the Options panel to enter your Twitter account details, and you'll probably want to choose a new folder to place incoming Twitter messages so they don't get mixed in with your regular email. Once you've completed that step, you should be able to start sending, replying, or retweeting messages easily—but the really interesting feature is the ability to track keywords with a search term, and filter through those messages locally.

SusanExpress

I am sure you get the gold ad for SusanExpress.com in trade.

Well my bestfriend and I went to eat chinese food this past weekend. We open up our cookies and guess what our eyes saw? Susan Express ads in our cookies.

I know where you hide now SusanExpress!
I'm looking for nice designer jeans.

Something that will make me look more decent than I currently look in my baggy, not well fitting, Levis.

Don't get me wrong, I like Levis but they just don't fit me the same way some designer style jeans will fit me - hugging my supple yet well rounded and firm buttockular area. ;-)

Anyway, any suggestions for jean shopping in the $100-$125 range? (cheaper is good too :) )

Let the snarky comments begin..

Thanks,
nex

Reef Sandals (Mick Fanning Model)

  • Jul. 10th, 2009 at 4:14 PM
Considering the summer weather is finally upon us, and my boyfriend's birthday over the horizon, I was hoping the great people of this community could help me locate an item...

Specifically, the Mick Fanning Reef sandals (the ones with the bottle opener on the underside.) They are pretty awesome, and I think they would make a great gift. However, I have no clue which stores in the GTA carry the Reef brand. I'll call them ahead of time to double check to see if they have that specific model of course, but any advice would be great!

TIA!

The image associated with this post is best viewed using a browser. You tried the old shredded-strips-of-newspaper trick, but it looked like your cat was "constantly throwing a kitty ticker tape parade" by dragging the strips around on her paws. Here's a better way to save money with homemade kitty litter.

Allie, of tipsite Allie's Answers, shares how to make a two to three week supply of homemade kitty litter in about half an hour:

  1. Shred newspaper in a paper shredder. I collect the shredded paper in an unused litter box.
  2. Soak the paper in warm water mixed with a few squirts gentle, biodegradable dish soap (like Ecover). The shredded paper takes on a cooked oatmeal consistency. The paper won't come completely clean, but the water will turn grey.
  3. Drain the water (an old colander works wonders) and repeat the soaking process minus the soap.
  4. Sprinkle baking soda liberally on the wet paper. Knead it in to the mixture (you might want to wear gloves to avoid getting ink on your hands).
  5. Squeeze the remaining moisture out until it's as dry as you can get it.
  6. Crumble over a screen and leave to dry (it takes a few days)

The benefit of using Allie's method over store-bought kitty litter is that you'll save money and use a more eco-friendly product without dealing with inky paw prints or an impromptu parade. According to her, this kitty litter even works better than a store-bought solution.

Do you use a homemade kitty litter? Where do you hide the litter box? Earn your gold star by sharing your experiences and tips in the comments below.
